Good morning. Today is another historic day. Another milestone is being fulfilled at the @NNPCgroup Headquarters, Abuja. Today, NLNG signs the First Basic 20 year term for Train 7 Gas Supply Agreement (GSAs) and 2nd Basic terms of 10 years for NLNG Trains 1-6 GSA.
GMD, @NNPCgroup , @MKKyari is chairing the GSAs signing at the moment. Opening the ceremony, he said: "NLNG has built a lot of credibility for us to be anxious to do business with them. NLNG Train 7 is of utmost significance to the country."
@MKKyari remarked further: "what we are doing here is very important. Delivering gas to Train 7 is key. Train 7 will generate over 10 direct jobs. Gas supply is one of the critical conditions to be delivered and we can't build the plant until we have confirmed gas supply."
@NNPCgroup @MKKyari added that that in addition to creating jobs, NLNG Train 7 will deliver billions in dollars in terms of revenue to the country, saying "this won't have worked without the support of the Federal Government."
NLNG will be signing the Gas Supply Agreements with Joint Venturers (SPDC JV led by Shell, TEPNG JV led by Total and NAOC JV led by Agip).
Speaking as buyer of gas, @nigeriaLNG MD @TonyAttah said today was an important moment for NLNG and the Train 7 project. He said Nigeria should not be talking about Train 6 but the country should be preparing for a Train 12.
@TonyAttah: "Nigeria was number 4 in the rankings of LNG suppliers but we are slipping down the ranks because of countries increasing their LNG capacity. We have to do something now, hence Train 7."
@TonyAttah: "The signing today is one of the critical conditions precedent to Train 7 FID. The signing symbolises partnership. We have had excellent relationship with the gas sellers for years and this GSAs signing consolidates that relationship." #NLNGTrain7
@TonyAttah: "Nigeria has 200tcf proven gas reserves and about 600tcf unproven. Nigeria is number 9 in the ranks of gas producing countries. This is not good enough. We have to develop gas resources to move up the ranks."
@TonyAttah: "It is time for gas. Beyond the changing energy mix, we have seen countries like Qatar ride on the back of gas to development. Nigeria has ridden on the back of oil for far too long. We think it is time for Nigeria to ride on gas."
@TonyAttah commended the GMD @NNPCgroup @MKKyari for his contributions to Train 7 and the oil and gas industry. #NLNGTrain7
@TonyAttah added: "NLNG is ready to build more trains. We started with 2 trains and then build 6, becoming the fastest growing LNG company at the time. We took a break in 2007 but, the conveyor belt is rolling again with Train 7, on the back of today's signing."#NLNGTrain7
On a final note, @TonyAttah said: "The best time to develop our gas resources in Nigeria is yesterday. The next best time is NOW." #NLNGTrain7
