Recruiting is selling.

Many recruiters, HR folks and department managers are confused about this.

They think recruiting is about sifting and sorting through candidates to see which one is most worthy.
The company that is most successful at recruiting is always the one that does the best job of selling candidates on their opportunities.
If a candidate drops out at any point in the process, including after they start the job, you can’t blame them. You failed at your sales job. You did not make sure the customer was sold, and now you are paying the price
Mother Nature is always the best teacher
You can’t have it both ways. You can’t say that your job is to sift and sort candidates and weed most of them out, but then also be unhappy with someone who weeded themselves out. Anyone involved in any sort of weeding-out process, of course, always has the right to bail.
If you put your fingers in your ears and pretend that candidates who drop out of your recruiting process are bad and ungrateful people, you will never learn the lesson the universe is trying to teach you
