I feel bad for both Kate & Simone on #BelowDeck. Too often an unprepared, unskilled stew is hired for it not to be production deliberately hiring someone without the necessary experience. I doubt Simone wanted to look incompetent so they must have misled her
But I don't understand if you know you are going to be working as a stew on a TV show, why don't you watch a few episode, see that you have to pour drinks, make cocktails, make iced coffee, slice citrus, and watch YouTube tutorials?
They seem to allow little time for training, but they should have a day of in-service for inside and deck crews. But then there would be less drama.
