oh hooray we are doing yet another rehash of the stupid debate about who’s a grifter 🙄

I’m trying very hard not to just spew profanity here, bear with me... /1

I’ve NEVER worked for or endorsed anyone for office I didn’t genuinely support, & I’ve fired clients who failed to follow the principles that initially earned my support. I’ve literally walked away from thousands of $ over principles.

Some checks are too expensive to cash. /2

Watching the conservative movement turn into the angry, bitter, and paranoid mob it’s become (how else should I view the constant attacks that we Never Trumpers are somehow both irrelevant & at fault for all the problems?) has been profoundly depressing. /3

It used to be a badge of honor to be a conservative outnumbered in liberal environments. The College Republican who held her own in a debate w/a liberal professor. The “Friends of Abe” working in Hollywood. /4

I spent years hearing conservatives mock the “victim culture” on the Left & now I see so many lose their minds if anyone dare criticize the President.

He’s one of the most powerful people in all of human history. He should be able to survive if I write a 800 word blog post. /5

And, ugh, this new fervor for “owning the libs.” 🤮

Guess what? No one is owning any libs. You don’t get presented with your very own pet liberal no matter how many scathing tweets & memes you write. /6

*More importantly* I am unaware of any evidence—statistical or anecdotal—showing that efforts to “own the libs” actually earns votes or does anything to win people over to conservativism. /7

It’s worse than just “preaching to the choir;” it’s preaching to the choir while expressly shouting at the congregation that they’re evil and stupid and you hate them. Who in their right mind would want to join that? /8

I’ve spent most of my adult life volunteering and working for Republican candidates and causes. I feel disconnected from networks of friends and professional contacts that I built over two decades. It hurts sometimes and makes me sad. /9

But I am not going to help raise one cent or register one voter to re-elect Trump. There is nothing anyone can do or say to change my mind...and there’s certainly no check that’s swaying my opinion one way or the other. /10

The career switch to the bakery was partially following a personal passion for baking & artistic things, but I seriously doubt I would have dropped back from the political scene at all if not for the Trumpian fever that’s infected the GOP. /11

I believe Democrats are wrong about a lot of things, but I just don’t see the majority of them as evil or dumb or trying to Destroy! America!

More importantly, it’s nearly impossible to persuade anyone to your side if you start by accusing them of being evil and/or stupid. /12

Where are you going to find the future Republican voters? Charlie Kirk’s antics get cheers from those already in MAGA hats. I don’t agree w/Ron Paul on everything but he built a movement that grew w/new people attracted by the ideas. Where is that spirit on the right now? /13

I don’t speak for all Never Trumpers but I’m pretty well connected to many others who still identify that way. DC cocktail parties aren’t actually hard to get invited to, & Soros’ checks seem to be lost in the mail. Media spots aren’t tough either & mostly unpaid/little pay. /14

So these accusations are beyond tiresome, to be constantly told by someone else what I think & what my beliefs & motivations are. Consider the possibility...it really might be about principle. Maybe, what’s happening is exactly what we’ve said all along... /15

...that we oppose Trump because he’s destroying the conservative movement’s hope for the future, that he’s profoundly narcissistic and unethical, that he endangers our national security by coddling dictators & tyrants & undermining our foreign policy strategy, etc. etc. etc. /16

Anyway, here’s a photo of some chocolate covered strawberries I did today. I’ve mathematically worked out how many of each type I need to fit on one tray to make this pattern & that was very satisfactory. I did in fact get paid to do this. 😉 17/17
