"When you drain the swamp, the Swamp fights back" - Jim Jordan, just now, suggesting that Trump's troubles stem from his supposed efforts to drain the swamp.

It's really hard to convey how absurd this statement is, but we'll all be here for a while, so here goes...
2/ A politician who wants to Drain the Swamp would start by putting high-paid lobbyists out of their jobs, and Trump did just that...by hiring them to run agencies in his administration (often the very agencies they used to lobby on behalf of special interests)
3/ Fully one out of every 14 of Trump's appointees for high-level positions in his administration have been lobbyists. propublica.org/article/we-fou…
4/ And he has named more lobbyists to cabinet-level positions in three years than his predecessors did in eight years. fortune.com/2019/09/17/don…
5/ And, thus, you can see the deep dedication Trump has to Draining the Swamp when the agency run by his Interior Secretary, a former lobbyist, proposes a sweetheart contract to one of his longtime lobbying clients.apnews.com/4527b2b31fcf45…
6/ We see Trump's profound passion and progress in Draining the Swamp when a recording of oil execs at a Ritz Carlton shows them laughing about how much direct access they have to administration officials—one of whom is *their own former lawyer* politico.com/magazine/story…
7/ Trump has so thoroughly Drained the Swamp that the founder of the country's largest payday lending company told fellow payday lenders that being a major political donor got him a direct line to Trump (The same Trump who is supposedly Draining the Swamp) washingtonpost.com/business/2019/…
8/ I could keep going, but anyone with eyes to see can see that Trump is Draining the Swamp about as well as a hurricane fixes a leaky roof.
9/ But Trump has certainly done one thing as the waters of the Swamp have risen: He's made a clearing, put up some dikes, and raised the doors to let the swamp and all its critters flow in. If the waters ever start to recede, he can slam the muzzles shut and keep it all
(I'm reaching deep into my elementary school rice-plantation fieldtrip knowledge for this metaphor)
10/ What Trump has done instead of draining the Swamp, is make sure he becomes one of its biggest beneficiaries.
11/ He is making millions from special-interest groups who hold events at businesses he still profits from, while they seek favorable policies from his White House citizensforethics.org/trump-properti…
12/ And this is just one aspect of the unprecedented conflicts of interest Trump has chosen to bring with him into the White House. All done out in the open. Laying waste that Trump cares a whit about the Swamp or corruption.

He's quite fond of both. citizensforethics.org/trump-conflict…
