5/ economies depend on agriculture and tourism - both of which will be severly impacted when we have fires. Reduction burning can only be done when conditions are safe - the #cfa regional operations manger told me that was 4 days in the past year. People are anxious and angry..
6/ that there has been such denial, lies and inaction. People are looking to local government to act -there is little we can offer. Indigo Shire has joined the list of councils declaring a #ClimateEmergency but without federal and state support the impact is limited. We need help
7/ I feel helpless - I dont want to alarm our people but I also can’t deny the danger my communities face. And I am beyond angry. This is not going to suddenly improve. Whatever we endure this summer will be increasingly worse as time goes on. How can a govt ignore this?..
8/ It is the primary duty of government to protect their people - not to actively enable and support the industries that are causing us harm with the burning of fossil fuels - knowing full well that it leads to #climatechange.
