For #Christmas this year my wee boy - who is 5, and an absolute star - asked for a "Fairy House". Not an iPad or PS4 games or anything like that. A Fairy House.

He was, however, absolutely set on it. A Fairy House was pretty much the only big thing he wanted, and he was sure Santa would bring him one because he has been so good (which, to be fair, is true).
But what the hell is a Fairy House? And where do you source such a thing?
Worry not, dear readers, because riding to the rescue came my mum - but to explain how we need to go back nearly 30 years.

When my wee sister (@Ashley1Bruce) was about 6 our mum built her a dolls' house. Specifically, this dolls' house: 
What if she converted that into a Fairy House? Well, sure, but that's a lot of work surely? It was - but she insisted it was no problem.

As soon as he saw it this morning he burst into a huge smile and beamed: "It's *exactly* what I wanted!"
Some detail on the construction.
She painted it all (because it had been sitting in her loft for 20 + years) but then decided that made it look too 'normal' and unfairyish - so she redid it all and mottled the paint.

The inside is carpeted with green felt to match the garden - she even carpeted the bloody stairs (somehow).
The garden it is on has a slightly raised platform built into it in order to allow it all to open without dragging across the grass.
She even made a point of finding wee boy fairies to go in the garden.

And as if this wasn't all heart-warming enough already, it turns out that some of the things in it were in my mum's dolls' house when she was a kid.
The wee man is currently on Skype with my sister and brother-in-law (who live in America) telling them all about how wonderful his Fairy House is.
