In 2014 I was in a meeting with a telecom that does not operate in the U.S. and they demonstrated this technology.

They had maps that showed a heat map of their users around various locales.
"Here is a concert happening. These people are now in the cohort of people who like that artist"

"You can tell that these people are parents because they are always at school events together for this school"

"These people work at the venue"

and so on
And this was 100% tower data. Not related to GPS, location sharing apps, etc.
The meeting was partially to ask the question of "What should we do with that data?"

It was wild.

We didn't have a good answer and we didn't end up working together in anyway.
This was a small telecom in a small market. I can't imagine what is happening at the bigco telecoms that see literally everything we do on our phones, computers, etc
