If you are farmer please try as much as possible to process a bit of your harvest this year. Don't be too quick to sell your raw produce. The temptation to harvest and sell is high but you will will make more money processing them into final products for consumers.

Look for people who can invest in the processing chain if loans are difficult to access.

If you have 1 hectare of cassava for example and you harvest 30 tonnes. Total cost of production estimated at N400,000 for 1 hectare.

You will sell at between 18 - 25000 per tonne.

Using the highest market value 25000 × 30 tonnes = N750,000 net N400, 000 then you ll make a profit of N350,000.

If you process your cassava into Garri...Garri Ijebu sells on Amazon for $15 per kg. Cassava flour etc..

If it cost you 700,000 to process 30 tonnes of cassava..

You should have at least 28 tonnes of either Garri, flour or cassava chips.

You can sell between N150 - N200 per kg of the product. 1000kg = 1 tonne.

28 tonnes = 28,000 kg. Multiply this by N150

28,000kg × N150 = N4.2m

Remove the total cost of production = N2m profit est.

Also look at catfish.. you harvest and sell 1kg of fresh catfish for N600.

If you have a thousand in your pond you will make N600,000 revenue. Spend extra N100 - 200 to smoke and pack each kg then you can sell at N1200 - N1500

Check on Alibaba for the cost of these equipment and find a way to finance them. You can also ask some local manufacturers..I don't they are that expensive considering the value they will add to your farm.

Same goes for other crops..carry out your research and make wise decisions. With a valuable proposition, you will attract investors and make good money.
