The American people are sick and tired of politicians who support a Medicare for All, single-payer system one day and use GOP talking points against it the day after receiving huge campaign contributions from insurance and drug company executives. Here are the facts. Thread
Fact: Bernie’s Medicare for All bill gives everyone the freedom to choose their own doctor, hospital & dentist with no premiums, co-payments or deductibles

Pete's plan doesn't give Americans the freedom to choose doctors who aren't in-network & doesn't eliminate those expenses.
Fact: Bernie’s bill expands Medicare to include:

- Dental
- Vision &
- Hearing

Pete’s plan does not. It provides zero help to the:

- 65% of seniors
- 34% of working-age Americans and
- 10% of children

who have NO dental coverage.
Fact: If you like your health insurance plan, you can't keep it under Pete’s proposal

Pete would allow companies to change or eliminate the health insurance plans of workers against their wishes which 70% of Americans oppose

50 million lose their health insurance plans each yr
Fact: Keeping our current healthcare system intact, as Pete’s plan does, will cost every man, woman & child in the U.S. over $50 trillion over the next decade.

Bernie’s Medicare for All bill will save the American people an estimated $2 trillion to $5 trillion over 10 years.
Fact: Pete’s plan would create a 2-tiered health care system: 1 for the healthy & wealthy; 1 for the sick & poor

Private insurance will cater to the healthy & wealthy

The sick & poor would be left w/the public plan

What happens to an insurance pool w/mostly the sick & poor?
Fact: Under Pete’s plan, the average family of 4 making $60,000 would pay $5,100 in premiums & up to $10,168 in out-of-pocket expenses for insurance that doesn’t include dental, vision, or hearing.

Under Bernie’s bill that same family would pay just $1,240 for a plan that does.
Question: Under Pete’s plan, what happens to the average American family that doesn’t enroll in any health insurance plan and that family is healthy for 3 years, but on the 4th year mom goes to the ER and is diagnosed with cancer?

The answer is below. Hint: No one will want it.
Answer: That family would be retroactively enrolled in the public option - even if they didn’t want it – and they would be forced to pay a huge healthcare tax and major out-of-pocket expenses.

Fact: Medicare for All will help, not harm, rural hospitals by making sure they're paid on time for every medical procedure

Most of the 100 hospitals that shut down since '10 are in states that didn’t expand Medicaid

Medicare reimbursement rates are much higher than Medicaid's
Fact: In February and April of this year, Pete was in favor of a Medicare-for-All, SINGLE-payer healthcare system.

“Single-payer, which is very much a compromise position between nationalized medicine & fully private payer & provider...that's the middle ground,” Pete, 4-1-19
In the 1960s, we guaranteed Medicare to everyone 65 and older as a right & rejected a compromise plan from the GOP that would have given seniors “the choice” between Medicare or private insurance. That turned out to be great news for seniors, bad news for lobbyists.
In recent years, all of us united in rejecting Paul Ryan’s disastrous plan to end guaranteed Medicare benefits by giving seniors vouchers and the “option” to “choose” to buy private, for-profit health insurance or Medicare. time.com/4653571/aarp-p…
If we could guarantee healthcare as a right to people over 65 against stiff opposition, we can damn well stand up to the big drug and insurance industry today & guarantee health care as a right to all, not some, regardless of age or income. jacobinmag.com/2017/07/trumpc…
Yes, we will end the greed of the healthcare industry that made over $100 billion in profits last year & enact
