A great question and one that is top of mind for many of us who generate and use #forestinventory data. So what does the #science tell us about the transferability of area-based models? #CFSEFI
Fekety et al. 2015: "Mapping response variables at the landscape level demonstrates that the relationship between field data and LiDAR metrics holds true even though the data were collected in different years."

A further question for @Policy_Exchange’s Executive Power Project: how exactly do you exclude proportionality as a ground of judicial review?
A provision that simply said “proportionality shall not be a ground on which a court may grant judicial review of a decision of a public authority” begs the question of what “proportionality” means.
And since the concept overlaps with reasonableness, you may not have achieved much: a court will use the same sort of reasoning as underlies proportionality review but give it a different label.

Increasingly common question: “is this a software company selling a consumer product, or a consumer goods company with a website?” Embedded within this, a lot of questions about margins, defensibility and competitive advantage.
Airbnb is not 'a hotel, but with a website'. It build something hard for both hotel companies and software companies to match. It has defensibility in software.
LVMH has huge defensibility in its products.
Selling a commodity product on a commodity website has neither.
'Commodity' doesn't mean easy. Anyone doing e-commerce now has to execute really really well, and some companies might not be able to do/learn that. But, great execution is not necessarily a barrier to entry.

1. A short thread on economic forecasting. I used to work as a trader at some well known financial institutions. We were bombarded daily with forecasts and predictions from some very well known economists. As traders who wanted to keep our jobs we learnt to mainly ignore them.
2. A good case in point would be the USA non-farm payrolls, a very important economic indicator that would move markets. Every month Bloomberg would publish 100+ economists forecasts for last month’s figures. Every month 100+ economists would get it wrong.
3. Why? Too many variables. But the same people are happy to publish their forecasts for how the economy will be in 15 years time. Now here are truly so many variables that it is literally guesswork.

Anyone that uses Facebook has probably given permission to an app at some stage. Maybe you use FB to sign into other sites, or you wanted to see some future predictions for fun. That's grand, but they retain access to your data even after you stop using them. Here's how to review
First go to your drop down menu & click Settings. Then click Apps. Review these carefully. For e.g. I use Kickstarter and 9gag frequently so those are grand, but see the ones like Klout and Giveaway widget? I'll want to remove permissions for those, even if only I can see posts.
