Harry & Meghan released a statement that they were quitting as senior royals without telling the Queen, Charles or William. The Royal family’s response was the second statement, issued two hours later. It makes it VERY clear nothing has been decided, regardless of what H&M want. 
How can they “fully support HMQ” & “honour our duty to the Queen” when they didn’t even deign to tell her they were doing this...? How can they be “financially independent” whilst still accepting huge 💰from the Duchy of Cornwall, set up to support heirs to the British throne?
They want to keep Frogmore Cottage, keep their titles, keep their security, keep their taxpayer-funded travel for tours & perks yet not keep the other side of the bargain-the “traditional” royal duties. They may want a “progressive new role”. But it’s HMQ who decides, not them.
None of the BRF knew about the Q&A section of their website. The whole point that royals can’t receive money is to prevent corruption (cash for access anyone?), prevent trading on royal titles & devaluing the brand. Inconceivable they can keep their royal status.
People quite rightly point out that Eugenie & Beatrice have royal titles & a job. But they are company employees, not earning money from a royal foundation that carries their HRH names. They are not asking for donations to directly fund them & their work.
By issuing their statement & website, w/out telling the Queen, they have tried to force her hand into giving them what they want. I have never before been told that she is “deeply disappointed” with her grandson. Or indeed, anyone. It’s a mark of how upset all the family are.
Oh & the “misconception” that those dreadful royal correspondents are “credible”. Who accurately reported royal engagements, that the households & charities were splitting, Wills & Harry fell out, that the Sussexes were unpopular & didn’t consult Queen. Orf with their heads!
