Day 5 of #RoyalVisitAfrica sees Harry in Angola where he’ll:
- Visit @TheHALOTrust de-mining site outside Dirico⛑
- Unveil @QueensCanopy Forest at Luengue-Luiana National Park🌳
- Travel to Huambo, where he will receive a cultural welcome🇦🇴

- In Huambo Harry will retrace his mother’s steps on Huambo’s “Princess Diana Street” to see the impact of her work 💣
- Tour the newly-renovated Princess Diana Orthopaedic Centre🏥
- Attend a reception at British Ambassador @JessicaHandFCO’s residence in Luanda🍷

It’s extremely poignant to see these pictures side by side. Harry has said he is “humbled” to be visiting a place and a community that was so special to his mother, Princess Diana. This was one of the last pictures of Diana who visited Angola in August 1997.

Prince Harry seemed v moved as he walked down a street in Huambo (named after his mum): the exact same spot Princess Diana had walked through as a minefield 22 years ago, in 1997, just weeks before she died. The difference is remarkable, thanks to @TheHALOTrust sterling work.

In Huambo Harry said: “It has been quite emotional retracing my mother’s steps along this street 22 years on, and to see the transformation that has taken place, from an unsafe and desolate place into a vibrant community of local businesses and colleges” #RoyalVisitAngola

Harry also visited the local orthopaedic hospital, now renamed in Princess Diana’s memory. He said it was a “deeply personal visit” & “it has been an honour to re-trace my mother’s steps today. I lost her 22 years ago but her memory is with me daily and her legacy lives on.”
