We need to talk about Foundations Stalybridge, a privately-owned family residential centre. This is where family courts send parents and children to decide their future.
Impossible to overstate how critical this is: assessments from centres like this can result in children being permanently removed.
But Foundations Stalybridge itself is a wretched place, which is failing badly. This latest @Ofstednews report, published yesterday.
There are serious and widespread failures, which put families and children at risk.
Note that this centre was only registered in April.
'Assessments do not always accurately reflect the parents' capacity..."
This is awful.
Staff lack basic skills. They make parents knock on the door and wait 'patiently' to be seen.
A baby left for 13 hours without being fed or changed.
There are so many failings to share each one. The report is here reports.ofsted.gov.uk/provider/9/251…
Foundations is part of Inspire North, an organisation much loved and supported by government to work with vulnerable families.
Inspire North receives £20 million a year for this work. Money should be be no excuse for these failings.
Privatisation of children's services is bad for children and families, and bad for taxpayers.

It doesn't have to be this way.
Inspire North's slogan.
You couldn't make this shit up.
