/ Listening to @IanCramer’s podcast with @DrEsselstyn (ep 26). There’s a number of things I’m agreeing with so far, particularly what he says around the 40 minute mark...
/ He discusses how the “inception of this disease” (atherosclerosis) comes from how “we progressively injure [the endothelium] from the food we eat”.

While I do think there are other ways, I believe this is the most prominent in today’s society.
/ I know the dietsphere will certainly be quite opinionated on what foods are the initiator/progress-ers of atherosclerosis, but it’s really worth emphasizing the commonalities here. There’s so much agreement on moving toward whole foods and away from processed foods/oils.
/ Moreover, while we can certainly debate the nuances of the science at the margins I still believe — and continue to believe — that the majority effect of most diets that get you into something newer and healthier did so by getting you away from the Standard American diet...
/ I may have differences in opinion of my own in with some of @DrEsselstyn’s, but I have little doubt his protocol toward whole foods has helped many get away from their more dangerous lifestyle. Set aside the meat vs plant topic for a moment- Less junk, more whole is def a plus
