Thread: I’m sort of on a political money kick right now. And I think we need to have a ♥️ to ❤️ about political donations. Many people are not comfortable with political donations. For 2020, I’m going to ask you to put that discomfort to the side. Hear me out. /1
If you are someone who will donate to your church, to a charity for heart disease, to your alma mater, to a homeless shelter, to the arts, to Planned Parenthood, than you are a donor. You care about improving your community, the world, and others’ lives. You are a good person. /2
For the past 3 years, a cancer has been growing in the White House. He is killing our democracy, he has metastasized across America, and he leaves the majority of us feeling awful every single day. He showed up unexpectedly, & we have suffered & lamented his presence. We have /3
Realized how little control we have over the situation and have done what we can to blunt the pain. And now, we see an opportunity for a cure is within our sights. But we have more work to do to get there. We have to knock, call, vote. And, as part of the cure, we have to be /4.
Sure that the cure is strong enough to beat the cancer in the White House. We have to be sure that there enough resources for knocking, calling, renting offices, hiring staff, paying to travel & stay all over the country to reach voters. We have to be sure we have used all of /5
The tools in our collective American toolbox to fight. And that simply takes money. Rest assured - that money doesn’t go into the pockets of the Dem candidates. The donations help build the ingredients for the cure, like rented space, staff salaries, candidate plane tickets, /6
Toner & printer paper, apps with voter addresses, pollsters, Senior staff strategists, computers, all the office things for all the field offices located all across the states across the country. Plus all the tv ads, digital ads, print ads. It is nuts how much it will cost to /7
Cure this cancer. So please put your discomfort to the side abt political donations, and do what you can, when you can. Please consider helping the Dems beat Trump. If you don’t want to donate to a specific person, than join me in donating to the DNC. The DNC work side by side /8
With whomever is the nominee. The DNC has been building up the last few years to be able to hand off to the nominee the lists, databases, talent, & opposition research, needed to fight this cancer. Whether the DNC or a candidate, pls donate to help./ END
