Hindutva is Hinduism that resists. My response to the manufactured debate that seeks to shows them as opposites, the aim of which is to render Hindus passive and defenseless.

Hindutva is Hinduism that resists. It doesn’t matter how plural one is, as soon as one speaks up for Hinduism and defends it against attacks or misrepresentations of others, one would be dubbed “Hindutva” and demonized in the “secular” discourse. 2/
This has been a dichotomy manufactured by @ShashiTharoor and the Congress. The aim is a political argument to claim that Congress is not against Hinduism but Hindutva., it needs a response from apolitical Hindus since it aims to render Hinduism defenseless. 3/
@ShashiTharoor There are the kind of thoughtless responses, from those who clearly haven't read the piece, that leads to a dumbing down of the Hindu intellectual discourse. Please engage with the ideas.

@ShashiTharoor "...the false distinction between “Hinduism” as something positive, in opposition to “Hindutva” as something negative, serves a singular purpose—to neutralize all defense of Hindu traditions as something evil or unacceptable and to relegate them to complete passivity. " 4/
@ShashiTharoor In 'colonizing the Americas, native peoples who resisted genocide and seizure of their lands were dubbed “savages.”... saying “the only good Injun is a dead Injun.” The equivalent today has been turned into “the only good Hindu is a dead Hindu” i.e one who doesn't resist.' 5/
