The Uninhabitable Earth by @dwallacewells - A look into the future and how global warming will impact everything from politics to capitalism. A great read even though I think it overstates things. It scares and it's time to be very, very scared. Ranking: 8

No, I won't be going to the Trump rally tonight. Its being held in downtown Lexington, which is already a zoo; parking's a bear.

If anyone's coming into town for it, I recommend navigating using the 5/3 building as a landmark, and finding the parking structures near there.
Its as close as you'll get to walking distance to Rupp Arena and still possibly be able to find parking.

I don't think you'll see an antifa or such presence here, BUUUUT the local GOP offices have had their windows smashed multiple times over the years, so keep your eye open.
Food wise, all you have to do is shoot down broadway away from downtown to get to food, if you're not eating at Rupp Arena. Blue Reef Sushi, Cook Out, Bad Wolf Burger, Buffalo Wild Wings, a few are kinda in walking distance (Cook Out and Bad Wolf specifically).

My residency program accepted two new trainees a year. In 2011, one was a blond, blue-eyed, corn-fed son of the Midwest.

The other was me.

We were always treated differently, and it was never more clear than in how we were perceived when we struggled.

He was always given the benefit of the doubt, encouraged that training was hard sometimes but he'd get through it.

Support was always there for him.
Unsolicited.

What I received was silence.
And whispers, so soft that I would mistake them for voices in my own head:
'Lazy' 'Unprepared' 'Unfocused'
'Do you think he's hungover?'
'He was probably up all night getting lucky'

Important read for anyone who fears that European Millennials are turning their backs on democracy.
This study uses a different survey (the European Values Survey, instead of the WVS), which samples 18 countries multiple times over 15 years. On a ten-point scale, respondents were asked “How satisfied are you with the way
democracy works in [your country]?"
Pretty satisfied!

(Yes, you're reading that right. Millennials are the *most* satisfied with democracy, not the least).

1/ It’s simple to note: One has to subtract before adding. Give up what’s bad, before thinking about adding what’s good. True for habits, food, news and everything else.
#life 2/ We live in a world with many apparent "signals”.

We’re consuming:
- More info/news/entertainment
- More food
- More social networking
- More things to-do/work...

…than prior generations. It’s making us lazy and critically, disengaged.
#life 3/ It’s unclear what the signal to noise ratio is - it’s a function of one’s own consumption habits.

And separately, we’re prone to setting additional goals too:
- Read good books
- Eat a healthy diet
- Have fewer but better friends
- Work smart

@WendySiegelman It also seems like it’s been run as a long time financing vehicle and write off of convenience for all kinds of investors, who have bid aggressively for it and bankrupted it multiple times over the years.
