First all of us must understand what is that process.
All these intellectually challenging Universities rope in new academics into courses via a process called registration.
1/n
But these specail universities adopt an elective process n the part of students to choose their subjects and classes.
And then there is a process called crediting a course and auditing a course..
People in engineering may credit various subjects but still audit economics
A student may not be required to do exceedingly well in audited course.
In certain universities there may be on offer several courses to be chosen by students which are taught by different professors.
For eg. Prof X my be running a lab on Neuro Scince while Prof Y Cognition
A student may go and sit in the lecture sessions of Prof X and find it unimpressive and then move to Prof Y.
It may take a few months(typically 6 months) for the student to choose specific course curriculum.
While the university has freedom to offer specific courses it ..
..is the prerogative of the students to opt for sitting in the classes of Prof X or Y.
But then there is a timeframe within which the studnents settle down in X or Y
What I really don't know is where the system is found unreasonable in JNU as the VC is also from IIT
While I fully appreciate the freedom to choose by students, their refusal to register without specific reasons must be examined thoroughly and a decision taken.
Education in certain universities are bound to be different and innovative.
Let's be sensible and bring it to order
