Sadaf Jafar was doing facebook live when she was picked up by police. Was slapped, beaten by batons, arrested. Was kicked in stomach by IG in thana & saw ppl being stripped, thrashed. Bled for 2 days before was given sanitary pad. Says jail was relief after torture #UPcrackdown

From fact finding in Kanpur- following the anti-CAA protests, police used tear gas & opened fire leading to 3 deaths. No post mortem reports till now.

Testimony of Mohd. Sulaiman- a 12 year old shot in Kanpur is in critical condition. People were so terrified that after receiving medical treatment, they didn't want to register complaints. Police has registered FIRs against those grievously injured.

Multiple testimonies unmask strategy adopted by police to intimidate people- FIRs registered against unknown persons & anyone coming forward as a witness or victim of violence by police is threatened that they/their family will be arrested under those FIRs. #UPcrackdown

Violence, especially against minors, raises serious questions about silence of human rights bodies & those charged with protection of children. Requires an independent investigation into role of each state agency. #UPcrackdown
Jury findings on #UPcrackdown :
-Police inflicted violence targetting muslims, killed people, indulged in custodial violence
-Political executive failed to stop police atrocities. CM's language of Badla encouraged use of force.
-Denial of medical aid a violation of human rights.
Video of the jury reading its findings.
Justice Sudarshan Reddy, former Supreme Court judge referred to the current situation as a "Democratic Recession".
