The social media mob against the Covington Catholic High School students began one year ago tonight. Of all the low moments for NeverTrump—and there have been many—this was the lowest.

Here’s was my first tweet that night. It was obvious to anyone not blinded by Trump hate what was happening:

“But what did Trump-hating conservatives do? They betrayed boys who...are the progeny of conservatism. They aided the Left in the virtual thrashing that prompted death threats against the children and their families.

They sided with the enemy.”

Goldberg and NR see Schiff and company as victims, not perpetrators, of the current political climate:

Trump is a liar, per Jonah Goldberg and @NRO, but Democrats didn’t tell the truth “the right way.” An orchestrated impeachment ruse concocted by the same people who torched the country over a lie about collusion are the decent ones because Orange Man Bad.

The lawsuit claims that the newspaper “wrongfully targeted and bullied” the teen to advance its bias against President Trump because Sandmann is a white Catholic who wore a Make America Great Again souvenir cap on a school field trip to the #MarchforLife rally in D.C.

1. What have we been saying about using the 48-hour rule when dealing with the legacy media? The Covington Catholic #fakenews incident after the March for Life is the latest exemplar.
2. Reminder: the 48-hour rule states that, “Whenever the legacy media break a breathless supposedly bombshell story, one should wait at least 48 hours afterward to comment when the rest of the story is made known.”
3. We witnessed days of breathless excoriations of those students by the Left – as well as virtue-signaling by supposedly conservative media like National Review piling on. And all of the vile tweets from the brainless zombies on the Left! And threats to the school & families!
