This piece brings up The Obama Admin. efforts to reduce the prison population. The sources for this story, ex-DEA and ONDCP, for sure think this is a bad thing. They see no need for reforming the system. Like Jeff Sessions, they think this policy (w/o evidence) made things worse.
Here it comes! Quoting DOJ and the enforcement "blob" that think any leniency in sentencing is signaling to dealers that it's ok for them to sell "killer fentanyl." Of course, there is not a shred of evidence that harsh punishment acts as a deterrent.
