@joelascol "This may be the most critical vote the SBC has taken on the race issue."

I don't think I agree with @pastordmack here, because other votes have been important. But this is a judgment call. I don't think this sentence is "stupid."
@joelascol @pastordmack "This vote will send a strong signal that Black leadership and Black professors aren't allowed to lead."

This would be an unprecedented action (we didn't even rescind resolutions that the liberals enacted before the CR) taken against the act of Curtis Woods and others.
@joelascol @pastordmack A lot of the associated rhetoric over the past several months has involved combing through the statements of people like @w_strickland and taking pains to interpret them in the worst sense possible and to select only the snippets vulnerable to such misconstrual.
@joelascol @pastordmack @w_strickland Although I think that the objections to CRT/I are ideological rather than racial in their origins,…
@joelascol @pastordmack @w_strickland … I don't think it is stupid to surmise that choosing this and only this SBC disagreement to take this unprecedented action will send a signal to these, who are among the few Black SBC leaders and professors, that they need to sit down and shut up.
@joelascol @pastordmack @w_strickland "It will also be a back door way of denouncing woman preachers."

OK. I don't see how, and maybe @pastordmack can help us out here, but I think I'd ask him for clarification about what he meant before I would call him stupid.
@joelascol @pastordmack @w_strickland Indeed, I think that labeling someone's sentiment as stupid before bothering to seek clarification about what he meant is not the best way I can imagine to demonstrate ONE'S OWN intelligence.
@joelascol @pastordmack @w_strickland "If rescinded, last SBC meeting I will attend."

I dare to think that isn't true. Whatever the outcome of Resolution 9, I think when the storm blows over, the SBC will probably still count both the McKissics and the Ascols among its number.
@joelascol @pastordmack @w_strickland After all, there are too many people of good faith who are quietly holding this missionary enterprise together while others do the best they can to blow it to smithereens. I'll place my bet on them.
@joelascol @pastordmack @w_strickland So, there you go. I don't think that it is accurate to label either @pastordmack or what he has said as "stupid." I don't think we should have passed Resolution 9, but honestly, it was the vacuous nature of the objections to it that aided its passage.
@joelascol @pastordmack @w_strickland If a resolution that says CRT/I is bad is tantamount to the doctrinal downfall of the SBC, but an amendment to change "CRT/I is bad" to "CRT/I is REALLY, REALLY bad" would've made everything peachy—well, that's not a very persuasive argument.
@joelascol @pastordmack @w_strickland And yes, I'm paraphrasing what happened in Birmingham, but I'm not in any way playing fast and loose with the truth. There wasn't much in Tom's amendment to sink your teeth into. And he said he would've been fine with this resolution if it contained that amendment.
@joelascol @pastordmack @w_strickland So, if a rather inconsequential amendment would've rescued the whole thing, it's rather difficult to see how it is, in its unamended state, some sort of Schleiermacher moment.
