Ok, challenge accepted:

The Christian sex ethic is nowhere near the heart of the faith. In fact ethics are not the heart of the faith either. But here goes — the Christian vision for sex is the most romantic vision for sex the world has ever seen. It's built on 5 foundations...
—God is love
—History is a love story
—Sex is proclamation
—Gender is a gift
—Our bodies are temples

The alternative is:
—Ultimate reality is power
—History's a meaningless power play
—Sex is recreation (or mere procreation)
—Gender's self-created
—Our bodies are playgrounds
...
Every step away from the Christian vision is a step away from love. See this short video we made (and the one following in the playlist)

...
A society built by this vision for sex weaves together four things the modern West has tried to pick apart...

Marriage <=> Sex <=> Pregnancy <=> Children

...and it builds a society up from covenantal communities of committed love (called families). Cool idea, no?

...
At the same time it deprioritises sex itself (and even deprioritises marriage and family as the idols they can become). This is a challenge to conservatives and liberals. The challenge to conservatives is that Jesus and Paul (both single) clearly advocate for chaste singleness...
...There is something higher than marriage/family.

This also challenges liberal visions. Sex is not our ultimate transcendent experience.

The true intimacy for which we're made is neither family nor sex, it's communion with Christ and his people...
That's why 'laying down the law' is not the way we'll win the culture. In the gospel we must cast a better vision. But when asked we should unapologetically own the Christian sex ethic. It's a cosmic romance that satisfies the soul and builds civilisations. So there's that.

End.
