THREAD on my work this week to hold @Amtrak accountable for mistakenly charging a group of wheelchair advocates $25,000 to travel from Chicago to Bloomington-Normal, IL.
Yesterday, @SenatorDurbin & @RepChuyGarcia joined me in sending a letter to @Amtrak CEO Richard Anderson.
In the letter, we expressed our disappointment with Amtrak & urged Anderson to commit to making Amtrak affordable, accessible & reliable for customers with disabilities.

Today, after meeting with @SenatorDurbin & myself, @Amtrak committed to several of the requests we made:
✅ Reviewing Amtrak’s disability policies nationwide
✅ Bringing disability voices to its Board of Directors
✅ Ensuring more focused attention to accessibility issues

Once implemented, these measures will help Amtrak earn back the disability community’s trust after this frustrating, offensive incident.
