I hate when ppl say this about me or tell me they are intimidated. Say you admire me. Say you’re nervous. But if you tell me you’re intimidated before even knowing me beyond my work or social media then what you’ve told me is that I will never be a real, complex human to you.
People who are intimidated by me can’t give me good advice or be trusted to hold me accountable when I fuck up. So if you tell me I’m intimidating then you’re telling me we can never be equals or friends in any real sense. The potential for mutual connection is gone.
Also, of course, it feels deeply radicalized & gendered.
