You know, if I tried hard enough, I could probably understand the mind of really crazy, indescribably twisted people. For the life of me, I can't understand the mind of someone who is still optimistic about the Buffalo Sabres.
Believing in the Sabres is beyond madness...
Madness is at least based on a fantasy that has, in many cases, some internal cohesion. Some causality, some foundation in experience or previously acquired knowledge. A belief in the Sabres requires one to divorce oneself from all reality, physical, intellectual and moral...
The Sabres have proven again and again beyond all doubt, their staunch dedication to weaponised mediocrity. Their unrelenting commitment to stumbling sideways on the road to nowhere for however long it takes for the franchise to fold or the universe to die of frustration...
To believe that they are a magic trade or a lucky draft pick away from breaking the cycle is to deny all known facts, to reject reality, to spit upon reason. They will not change. They cannot change. They are a grave site of talent and the compost heap of dreams...
Any player with a modicum of talent who is unfortunate enough to wind up in Buffalo will see his ability wither and die, his love of the game drain out, every spark of hope within his soul drown in an ocean of bile and suffocate in the boundless deserts of pain...
Please, stop fulling yourself. This is a ship that is simultaneously sinking and on fire. Nothing good can possibly come out of this. You can either keep it afloat and perish in the flames, or let the water quench the inferno while plummeting into the depths.
Abandon ship. Now.
