I played volleyball, basketball and soccer in school. Captained two of the teams. The only time mom ever came to a game was to yell at me because she heard I got in trouble in school. Tried to drag me home in the middle of the match.
"Stop running after a ball like a goy!"
No amount of journalistic achievement would ever satisfy her, either. She read none of my articles. It was her eternal shame that "Slava is still writing his stupid goyishe sport instead of having a real job."

It's 30 years now since the great American leader, named Ronald, started the process that led to the fall of communism and the dissolution of the Soviet Union.
Yes, 30 years ago, the first Soviet McDonald's restaurant opened in Moscow.
Here are some fun facts about this event.
* Actually, the first McDonald's was opened by a Canadian, not an American businessman, George Cohon. It took him 10 years to sign the Soviet authorities off on this.
* The Soviet franchise couldn't sell the Big'N'Tasty because tomatoes weren't available in the USSR year-round.
* Soviet potatoes weren't big enough for McDonald's French Fries. They had to import them from Belgium and hire a person to measure them with a ruler.
* The Big Mac was 3.75 rubles. The average Soviet engineer made about 150 rubles a month.

Republicans have done it because they know they can get away with it. Because nothing matters. Because they can throw out another "her emails" red herring that the morons will gobble up. Because Putin will help. Because voter suppression. Because democracy is dead.
They are right
Wait and see. We've had a blatant, out-in-the-open cover-up of abuse of power, and come November, everyone will be talking about Biden's corruption or Sanders' being the actual Joseph Stalin, while "swing voters" will be pulling the lever for Trump saying "I guess both sides..."
Media will be bemoaning partisanship & division, suburban whites will be talking stock market, non-college whites will be owning the libs, and minorities and young people won't be bothered to show up. Trump will win and the GOP Senate majority will stay intact.
Nothing matters.
