Thread: Anyone else's companies/organisations/groups of any kinds ever institute a Quiet Achievers award? Like a #quietAustralians award but designed to exclude anyone who has an opinion.
The award name infuriated me and was roundly mocked by everyone but it continued because the person giving the awards was clearly wanting to reward compliance.
My question is, why is compliance so important to managers? Why wouldn't you value getting honest feedback and interaction?
Hilariously, I was given one of these awards partly because I was working with a #quietachiever and they - really - had to award her and so the award, if it ever had any credibility at all, was damaged since I'm clearly not quiet.
And I am reminded of this because someone I worked for nearly 30 years ago also valued compliance above anything else. Anyhow he got his just rewards the other day.
So when I hear politicians talking about quiet Australians, they are trying to silence voters whose views don't align with their own. But we all need to voice our views, whether as voters or as workers. Be as noisy as you like. Above all, keep speaking up. Your voice matters.
