As long as NIGERIA doesn’t create systems, it won’t work. Fixing bad roads is not rocket science & it shouldn’t be a campaign point for any political aspirants
1.have the list of all roads in a state and categorize them into a) new construction b) repairs c) Maintanance
#thread
2. Contract different companies for each category. (This will improve competitiveness and allow new firms with less influence on the govt to bid for jobs and also increase employment especially for Engineering graduates)
3. Roads that fall under REPAIRS, should be zoned In A way that EVERY WEEK of the month, 2 or three roads are being repaired. Make an alternative route for commuters. At no point In time should there be zero activity of road repairs in a State.
4. Roads that fall under MAINTENANCE are road that are in good condition but carry heavy traffic everyday (good to have meters to calculate number of cars that ply these roads daily. MONTHLY maintenance should be carried out to avoid wear & tear as much as possible
5. Road that fall under new construction require longer time to complete, so alternative routes should be provided if necessary (most of them new alternative routes). And each new construction should be done with 6 months - a year (depending on the complexity of the work needed)
If this can be implemented, life will be easier for commuters, employment rate will be increased cos there will always be work for low skilled people and for Engineers to supervise them.
