Okay, question of the day...what was the weirdest experience you have had on/because of Twitter?

I have a lot, but here is my favorite time #TwitterGotWeird.

I write comics, and Gene Simmons has contacted me to write some KISS comics. Only problem, I don’t care for KISS. So I made some very tame jokes about it. All in fun.

A follower who was a huge KISS fan got angry...
She started rage tweeting at me, a lot of personal insults...she claimed to know the guys in Kiss like they were best buddies. She also claimed to be a famous actress (she was an extra in some stuff).

But best of all, she claimed to be a vampire.
Not only a vampire, but a leader of a huge group of vampires, and when she told them of my evil KISS mockery, they would all become enraged and attack me.

I am dying laughing, but there’s a twist.

She really was claiming to be a vampire, and had 20000 vampire followers.
I will say it again. 20000 vampire followers.

AND she called. my bosses at DC and Warner’s to try to get me fired.

So I had to explain through tears of laughter that Lady Dracula objected to me saying LOVE GUN was actually about a wang to corporate lawyers.
But the ultimate joy in this story is, the angry hoard of vampires who she said would be coming after me?

They were super nice, a bunch were big fans, and they apologized profusely for her embarrassing behavior.

I still wonder, ‘wtf, world?’

Also,every time I tell his story in real life, I can see people don’t believe me. Fortunately, I had about 100000 witnesses here. :)
I realize I worded something wrong in this story that makes it weirder.

The claim that she had 20000 vampire followers?

Was absolutely true. She had a newsletter and everything. 20000 followers.

All vampires.

I’m gonna say a thing that might amuse you guys about the upcoming Birds of Prey movie.

It’s a bit inside but pretty adorable, and sort of speaks to the ferocity of the actresses in the film.

I found it amusing and a little terrifying. Not a big thing, but a BIG THING. 1/
Okay, I spoke at some length with Margot Robbie’s dialect coach, a really nice woman who was very kind and a big fan of the original BOP comics.

She said nothing but nice things about everyone involved with the movie and was clearly thrilled that the comic was being adapted. 2/
She had nothing but lovely things to say about Margot. But one thing stuck with me, there was more than a little bit of awe.
She said that because Margot insisted on learning all the skills in the movie, that she had coaches for many disciplines.

It’s an action movie, right? 3/

When @rocketspouse was a kid, his family had a half/sheepdog, half mutt dog, very loyal, but oblivious, sort of snoozy and chill, never hyper. Did his own thing.

Every day, he disappeared for an hour, and then would come back, and fall asleep. Eventually, the dog died...

...and @rocketspouse was the youngest and hit the hardest. He missed his dog.

A few weeks after, an old man, a stranger came to the door. Hubby says he looked very frail, skinny as a coffin nail.

He knocked on the door, and asked where the dog is, if he was okay.

It turns out that this man had a small farm, and his kids were gone and his wife had passed.

It turns out, every single day, hubby’s dog, without being asked or taught, would go and round up the man’s sheep, put them in their pen, then leave and come back to his home. 4/

Unlike other social media, #Twitter has the habit of shaming new entrants/ supporters of causes by saying - "This has been discussed here for years." So what? The insider groups formed here as just as bad as those found IRL. Perhaps worse, for they aren't immediately visible.
Whenever I see cases of online shaming in the name of causes, I worry for the recipient's mental health. Insider groups of all kinds indulge in online shaming. I haven't seen a single group that doesn't do this, so would love to know of Twitter handles that don't indulge in this.
The democratic set-up of #Twitter is among its best aspects, so a late (perhaps younger) entrant is as entitled to learn here as the older, established tweeters.
