If your kids were in the room for the #PepsiHalftime show... How did you feel about it and how did they feel about it?

I felt like we’re eliminating all forms of pure family entertainment. It was basically a super inappropriate striptease.

It was honestly just gross. I’m not a prude. I’ve directed rap videos for Gucci Mane, Snoop Dogg, Ty Dolla Sign etc. but they basically just had a strip show followed by kids on stage and then focused on Shakira & JLo’s butts in front of kids on stage. #PepsiHalftime #SuperBowl
Why can’t some things just be family friendly? If adults want to watch Shakira & JLo gyrating, dancing on stripper poles and shaking their butts then they can go to a show for it. Why must everything be sexualized? What message does it send to kids? #PepsiHalftime #SuperBowl
How many 10, 11, 12, 13, 14 year old girls just watched the #PepsiHalftime show and got the message they need to show their body to get noticed?

How many 10-14 year old boys got the message that women’s bodies are what they should value by watching the #PepsiHalftime show?
Here’s the #PepsiHalftime show that the NFL thought was great for all ages! It featured stripper poles, butt shots with kids standing behind them, adults grinding & gyrating, rope to tie yourself with and plenty of crotch shots! What a wholesome show for little kids to watch. 🙄
Lots of people missing the nuance in my comments about the #PepsiHalftime show. I’m not opposed to sexy performances. I have directed sexy performances. I just think there’s a time and place for it and it’s not during a show being watched by millions of young kids.
Lots of "parent your kids & don’t let them watch" responses as if that solves the issue of our culture being degraded and the loss of any unifying family friendly national events.

The real problem is how many kids AREN’T parented. Those kids spread & popularize a broken culture.
Culturally it would do so much good if we had a few truly unifying national events where we made sure it was really family friendly. If things like the Super Bowl were family friendly, you may not realize it right away but it would have real cultural impact on how kids behave.

Wow. Kobe Bryant died in a helicopter crash in Calabasas. I just heard from my friends there. Heartbreaking. He was doing incredible work.

Please pray for his family, my dear friend @JeanieBuss and the whole Lakers organization.

At a loss for words. This is unbelievable. Pray.
Kobe was an incredibly inspiring man. He truly chased & caught greatness. He inspired a generation of basketball players and fans. He inspired my oldest daughter a ton. I’ll never forget taking her to her first game to see Kobe and her asking Jeanie Buss a million ?’s about Kobe.
Just thinking about all the people who will miss Kobe is heartbreaking. All the kids who are going to be told today that a man who inspired them passed away. So much heartbreak. Again, pray for his family, friends and all the kids who looked up to him. 💔💔💔

China’s restricting travel within China now for 50+ million people.

China is suspending all tour groups, flight & hotel sales on Monday for citizens who want to leave China.

China will allow foreign donations which is VERY rare.

China clearly sees this Coronavirus as a full blown crisis or at high risk to be one and they haven’t been honest about what’s going on. I’d bet they’re modeling scenarios over weeks & months based on what’s occurred thus far and must be seeing some really alarming possibilities.
50+ Million people having their travel heavily restricted within China is close to the population of our 50 biggest cities in the US having their travel restricted all at once.

It’s a huge deal. There has to be a damn good reason to do it.

A few things about @joerogan’s Bernie clip.

• He said he’d vote for Bernie in the Dem primary, he said nothing about the general.

I love Joe but I have some ?’s for him.

• Does he see Bernie as the prettiest pig to put lipstick on?
• Does he support breadlines like Bernie?
Going further:

• Would @joerogan support Bernie in the general election Vs. Trump? I’d be genuinely surprised if he would.
• Does Joe think the economy would collapse the week Bernie was elected (hypothetical)?
• Does Joe support a major tax % increase? Free college?
Everyone knows that @joerogan has been very vocal about not supporting the far left social justice warrior movement and their constant outrage.

• Does he acknowledge that Bernie is their candidate so by supporting him in the primary, you’re empowering those SJW’s?

Feel like doing a Steve Vai aesthetics thread. Steve and I share the same birthday (06/06), and while I've never been a ~huge~ fan of his music personally, I admire his embodiment of his own aesthetics. At his peak (IMO), he had this interesting xeno-magick-conjurer vibe going on
First thing I would start with re: Vai is not to talk about his music, or his clothes, or his bands, or his onstage persona

I'd start by talking about the guitar he co-designed: the Ibanez JEM. It's what you might call a "super-strat", designed for pretty serious abusing
The JEM:

- 24 frets (other guitars had 22, 21 frets)
- cutaways to make it easier to reach those frets
- more pickup options
- more whammy options

watch/listen Steve talk about his thinking – he has a hacker's mindset, modifying his tools to suit him. "I really wanted..."
