MSNBC is trying to drum up ratings by pretending Bernie Sanders is the "frontrunner." Anyone who can read a national polling average knows he's not. But when he loses the nomination, his tinfoil hat supporters will scream conspiracy. MSNBC pulled the same lying bullshit in 2016.
For those asking, Joe Biden is – without any question whatsoever – the frontrunner. That'll remain the same no matter what happens in the demographic outlier state of Iowa today. The national polling averages are the ONLY determination at this point for who's the frontrunner.
But you don't get a lot of people to stay tuned in when you boringly report that the longtime frontrunner is still the frontrunner. So instead MSNBC is using outlier polls, etc to pretend that Bernie – who's hated by two thirds of liberals – is the frontrunner instead.
That way Bernie's base stays glued to MSNBC because they're being told they're winning. And every other liberal stays glued to MSNBC for fear that Bernie might actually get the nomination, because everyone outside the Bernie cult knows he'd get blown out by Trump.
It's not coincidence that MSNBC's parent company NBC ran a fake story yesterday about Biden being in so much trouble, John Kerry is entering the race. When Kerry was in fact saying the opposite on the overheard phone call. "Make up shit about the frontrunner" is ratings gold.
Did MSNBC and other major media outlets learn anything from 2016? Sure, they learned that if you spend the primary race making shit up about the frontrunner, and pretending some angry old stooge is the frontrunner instead, you'll get huge ratings and high profits. Rinse. Repeat.
None of this means that Joe Biden will necessarily be the nominee. Lots can happen between now and the end of the primary. But Biden is the current frontrunner. That's about as controversial as saying the sky is blue. Yet MSNBC is suddenly claiming it's yellow instead.
Iowa and New Hampshire are nice places, but over the past 40 years they've told us little about who will be the nominee. I don't know who will win Iowa and NH, but it doesn't matter. South Carolina is the first taste of relevant demographics, then Super Tuesday decides things.
If the media would be honest about any of this, Bernie's supporters might have a chance at understanding that he was never remotely in contention in 2016, and he's not the "frontrunner" in 2020. They'd be more willing to vote for the nominee if they didn't think it was a conspira
This is not an endorsement of Biden. It's simply a statement of fact that he's the frontrunner – and he will be as long as he remains atop the national polling averages. It's amazing how much trouble I get in for stating indisputable facts, when MSNBC is lying about those facts.
