Oregon has a more easily accessed history of its exclusion laws because we had a vote in 2002 to excise the exclusion from our Constitution, not just repeal it.

I know the Iowa Caucus mess makes some Democrats look bad, the ones who still insist on caucuses. Oh, who was it that pushed so hard to keep caucuses? Bernie's reps on the Unity Commission, knowing that undemocratic caucuses that disenfranchise the majority of Democrats help BS
But if this spells the end of caucuses forever and secret ballots and day-long polling, absentee ballots, and early voting, hallelujah. Because caucuses are wrong, they are morally wrong and they need to go.
They have paper backup so the count will eventually be revealed. Bernie releasing his internal numbers for 40% of precincts is a dick move, but then he's been a malicious asshole since at least 1964 when he didn't vote

In fact, remember how Bernie's folks spread misinformation about the NY Primary by taking a shot of exit poll raw results not realizing it was unweighted and declared Rigged. Remember they also wanted to claim victory off first raw vote before viability as per Politico
and we saw that with that guy who was supposed to report precinct results, talking about waiting on the line, and presenting the numbers as though they were rigged because Bernie did well before realignment, not realizing those who didn't reach viable would not send to Bernie

This reminds me of a story told about when an organization I used to volunteers at was founded, decades before my time. They were debating what issues to work on. Like many orgs with the Alinksy model, many people were proposing some neighborhood improvements like stop signs
or better sewer drains. Poorer members were advocating for reforms to make the safety net stronger - food stamp reform to be specific. One of the VISTA volunteers then said, we can't make food stamps better, because then people won't support the revolution.
Now, I was not there and this story was told to me by a very progressive nun who was, but the organization was founded by a priest, a rabbi, and a minister, so it had a pastoral element to its leadership...anyway, all the staff were VISTA volunteers and they began lecturing

Yesterday, the U.S. Supreme Court decided Flowers v. Mississippi – an important case about racism in jury selection. Thread:
The vote in the case was 7-2. Chief Justice Roberts along with Justices Ginsburg, Breyer, Alito, Sotomayor, Kagan, and Kavanaugh were in the majority. They voted to reverse Curtis Flowers’ conviction and death sentence. Justices Thomas and Gorsuch were the two dissenters.
Each side in a criminal case can use what are called peremptory strikes to remove jurors for just about any reason or no reason at all. In 1986, the Supreme Court ruled in Batson v. Kentucky that prosecutors cannot use their strikes to exclude jurors on the basis of their race.
