Every citizen of a democratic country has the right to dissent provided it is under constitutional action.

There have been widespread protests against #CAA_NRC across the country. So far 533 protests have been held in the country since the CAA was enacted on 12th Dec,2019.
With a total of 52 Protests, Maharashtra has reportedly held the the maximum protests against the CAA NRC, followed by West Bengal with 51, Karnataka with 47, Bihar and UP with 45 protests.

The @DelhiPolice has, shockingly, granted me permission to hold a rally chanting “desh ke gaddaron ko, goli maaro saalon ko.”

The permission was given to me today when I visited Parliament St. Police Station.

This chant now, it seems, has state sanction.

At the police station, all they kept asking me constantly was - is this against the CAA?

I said no - it’s against communal forces & the incident at Jamia.

And like I wrote yesterday, they assumed the rally was “against communal forces at Jamia”. 🤦🏻‍♂️

I have no intention of holding a rally (unless y’all suggest otherwise).

I only wanted the police to give in writing what they think of this reprehensible slogan.

Legit protests don’t get permission. But this shockingly does.

At #JNU main gate. No streetlights all the way till here. Huge crowd of ABVP goons, men in masks and #DelhiPolice alongside. They're screaming Bharat mata ki jai. #SOSJNU #EmergencyinJNU. Saw i was taking a video and started threatening
Back home now. Data wasn't working. When we got to the main gate the streetlights were off, situation was volatile & ABVP/masked men were many and loud. When we left the lights had come back on, ABVP dispersed(?) and huge civilian crowd has arrived. Here's what happened #SOSJNU
So all streetlights were off leading to JNU. Roads barricaded. We walked at least a km in the dark and ran into 2 other groups who were confused, hearing sporadically abt violence, yogendra yadav getting beaten up, ABVP goons creating chaos there. Decided to walk together #SOSJNU

#Update: Some new info "Libby Squire" was seen getting into a taxi outside Welly on Beverley Road in Hull at around 11pm on Thursday, January 31.
#Update: Some more info. She was later seen on the street, near the junction with Beresford Avenue, at about 11.45pm, when a man got out of his car to stop and help her.
