1. In 1971, I was a senior in high school and one of five elected members of my Catholic Parish Counsel. I resigned from the Counsel publicly when it voted to spend a ton of money for new Italian marble for the altar rather than helping the poor in our modest New England town.
2. If I had one criticism of all @TheDemocrats is that they do not have a plan to address poverty in America. We talk in polite terms of "wealth disparity" but the issue is poverty. It impacts people of color and whites and exists in every state. Growing homelessness is proof.
3. The only way to begin to fix the damage done by the GOP Trickle-Down lie is to raise taxes on the top 2%. A billionaire should be taxed at the same rate as a person making $260,000 in 1951. That rate was 91%.

But all @TheDemocrats are afraid to say the "T" word.
4. It's a lack of vision and consistency that will defeat the Democrats in November. We need to go back to the roots of liberal vision of America that died with the Johnson Great Society and was replaced by the Reagan lies and racial division exploited by a morally bankrupt GOP.
5. Bernie touches that nerve but still can't say the "T" word. We have been cowed by our own failure to be true to the ideology that binds us. The rising tide does not raise the boats that have have already sunken. If I were to propose one policy that can address poverty it
6. would be to make the promise of Brown v. Board of Ed the reality. Not just for children of color but for every child in America. The right to a quality education is a human right. I would end the absurd move towards Charter schools and create a war time effort to make
7. every public school a place of learning. Make being a public school teacher a job with economic incentives that means our best will choose it as a career. The future will punish the uneducated. We need to fix the mess the lenders have made of College.
8. But education starts at pre-school and every kid in America deserves and has a right to a quality free education from pre-K to high school graduation and we are failing that pledge. @AFTunion @WeAreCTA @WeAreCTA @JoeBiden @ewarren @SenSanders @amyklobuchar @PeteButtigieg
