I would just really appreciate it if non-lawyer Twitter would give lawyer Twitter a little bit of a break today with the fucking "I told you so."

It's hard to overstate what this feels like, let alone those of us who worked in gov't (I clerked at the EEOC GC's office) or DOJ.

We were all indoctrinated to believe that the institutions and the offices were fundamental backstops. We believed that or we would not have been as good as we were at what we did.

You can pause with rubbing it in. It's painful enough, trust me.

You know, and while you're at it, no rape gifs of Lady Liberty.

JFC people. STOP.

Gonna to add that some of the best lawyers I ever knew were in the DOJ Civil Rights division.

It's easy to retweet what you wrote years ago, or mock those who chose this profession because they believed in justice, because it makes you feel holier than thou.

Shitting on real, ethical, dignified people who fought hard for good, and believed in institutions and the rule of law so much that they took low paying government jobs to fight for it, is nasty business.

Hashtag not impressed by this. Not at all.

Last comment: too much of Resistance twitter is investing in saying "I predicted this! See! I was right!"

Gonna refrain from saying how much I just don't give a shit right now whether you were right or not.
