“President Trump is withdrawing his nomination for former U.S. attorney for D.C. Jessie Liu to serve as the Treasury Department's undersecretary for terrorism and financial crimes, a top position overseeing economic sanctions”
As the article says,
/1
She was told last month she was getting the nom for this Treasury position, and would stay on until she was confirmed.
/2
Then suddenly today, on the same day that Barr tried to reduce Stone’s sentincing recommendation - and all four prosecutors quit the case - Liu’s nomination to Treasury was suddenly pulled.
/3
Why?
Did Trump no longer feel like rewarding her for her loyalty, after this Stone situation blew up and the Attorneys quit the case?
Was it standard Trump Petty spite?
Weird flex.
Did she do anything to help Trump with those other cases - including Manafort’s?
As someone else commented, maybe Trump didn’t want her answering questions during confirmation about what happened with Flynn’s sentencing.
The day before she left, prosecutors sent a filing that supported a more lenient sentence for Flynn.
