The last wave of government resignations before the Trump era was in the early 1990s, when four officials quit to protest Clinton's Bosnia policy. I wrote about their decisions, and the consequences, in 2017. theintercept.com/2017/01/29/sho…
They didn't just quit -- they spoke out. "I can no longer serve in a Department of State that accepts the forceful dismemberment of a European state and that will not act against genocide and the Serbian officials who perpetrate it," Marshall Harris wrote in his resignation.
Though they didn't all resign at the same time, as the Roger Stone prosecutors are doing today, each of them got a large amount of attention when they quit. But it would be several years before the Clinton administration would finally intervene to stop the genocide in Bosnia.

Behind this tweet there's a consoling message for those who protested the @NobelPrize organization's decision to give its 2019 literature award to Peter Handke.
The tweet celebrates, justly, the winner of the 2018 prize, Olga Tokarczuk. She received her Nobel more than a month ago, at the same time as Handke. @nobelprize has frequently tweeted about Tokarczuk since then -- but has been silent about Handke.
The apparent reason? The last time @NobelPrize tweeted about Handke, on Dec. 7, there was an avalanche of outraged replies. Here's the last Handke tweet that appears to have shamed the Nobel organization into silence about its 2019 laureate:

Reddit recently discovered a Russian campaign operating on the site. Unfortunately, they didn't provide specifics or detail how they made attribution, but they did preserve the accounts.

I collected data on the accounts and am sharing a bit more here. 1/

These are the creation dates of the 61 accounts that Reddit identified. There is a distinct cluster of accounts created on the day a link was posted to the leaked documents, as well as account pairs created as far back as 2017.
The majority of the accounts created on the day of the leaks did not post any submissions and were likely engaged in vote manipulation.

A handful of other accounts in that batch posted in Russian, German, and English, with topics covering Brexit, the leaks, and Georgia.

TIL what EC2's "Up to" means. I used to think it simply indicates best effort bandwidth, but apparently there's a hard baseline bottleneck for most EC2 instance types (those with an "up to"). It's significantly smaller than the rating, and it can be reached in just a few minutes.
For example, a c5.xlarge gets throttled to 1.14 Gbps after just 13 minutes.
A c5.2xlarge gets throttled to 2.28 Gbps after 26 minutes. So the baseline is 2X higher and takes 2X longer to reach. It also costs 2X more.

Either #reddit is intentionally hiding the full extent of what the Internet research agency was doing OR they just have no clue how to identify the accounts. The 940 accounts they list were mostly trash.
