... expect them to do and try to restrict judicial review and human rights by statute and try and pick better chaps for judges. Much to belatedly, sometime about a week before the Miller/Cherry case hits the Supreme Court, Sumption wakes up to what he has helped happen and...
... does a volt face, saying actually it’s good when the courts hold the government to account except... er... in cases about issues I’m not that interested in... er but judges have too many political opinions...
not me obviously! My political opinions just so happen to be the perfect reasonable median... but doing something about it would be FOOLISH because history shows (somewhere) they judges can constrain themselves...
... no wait, there must be some way of getting more super sensible people like me on the bench without confirmation hearings or taking judicial review away...
