It's your #Bonkersbrexit weekly roundup of just how much #Brexitnotdone we've had over the past week.
And wow what a week it was. Crazy actually.
I'm beginning to wonder if it's not us they're trying to convince but themselves...
#SaturdayVibes
First, we had the endlessly entertaining Barry from Basildon. Who (un)fortunately is a parody
Then like a gift from #Brexit Gods, we got the very real (confirmed by Indy) clueless Colin reinforcing all stereotypes
Then we had Dr Sune's informative ad-lib history of populism, with a detailed description of the Danish Brexit and how they had managed to step back from the breach away from their Siren's call.
Sadly we looked painfully naive in comparison.
Lisa managed to honour #labour 's now long-standing tradition of seesawing on brexit definitions.
independent.co.uk/news/uk/politi…
But did better than Long-Bailey's child in the leaders' debate
Labour are in denial. Look at data!
In the middle of all this the #Johnsonregime managed to launch another Goebbels-Esque campaign using public money to pay for #Brexit opportunity propaganda...AGAIN. You all complained to the ASA right? #fbpe.
Instructions in the link.
Unfortunately, despite needlessly spending our taxes, the now brilliantly run regime of #Rasputin Cummings managed not to specify any of the previously mentioned opportunities.
You've got to think if they had any, they'd get a campaign mention?
That's when the real #Brexitnotdone started. First, we had freeportsgate - which frankly is a policy that could have come from organised crime, not a nation-state (thread on that in the works)
Yet another #projectfear became #projectsevere. Border checks.
#notbrexitdone helped Gove with his 1000th lie since - probably last week - why count any more?
We all signed up to this said Gove, despite being on record promising the opposite.
Sajid dumped Boris over a bruised ego. Nick helped us remember he didn't dump Johnson over his nightmare self serving misappropriation of the #Brexit vote ruining the country.
What will we do without such a principled moral crusader as Sajid 🙃
Next for #notbrexitdone fishing reality, we're screwed because of course, they'd misrepresented our position.
The Independent's excellent follow up showed how fisher(wo)men had also been misrepresented.
Meanwhile, the EU saw we were not moving anti-money laundering and tax evasion directives into law.
Understandably the EU started a massive crackdown.
British newspapers "forgot" to report this.
Since when did we like tax evaders? (Erm ERG?)
The plan to put #Johnson above the law (Project Divine Rule) got a boost in the arm with the appointment of, "the most stupid MP in Parliament" to the top legal job.
Maybe it was a distraction move for #johnnyrotten
If you want to know what that plan is you need to look no further than the Tory manifesto.
Very helpfully #Rasputin put it there for all to see and none to read.
Outrage erupted over £0.5m spent on Brexit Negotiations transport.
Until we realised the £100m on advertising #Brexitnobenefits was worse.
Which in turn couldn't compete with the £40-60B #johnnyrottenbrexit will cost the treasury. Every year.
Which was helpful because as many pointed out, the "we're doomed" penny has finally dropped.
Would they be courageous and admit it?
Not. They're taking the sort of path that'll reincarnate the 1970's pre-EU sick man of Europe.
Seems poetic.
The final gift of the week was #Rasputin coming out as the great manipulator, which was fun.
Mostly because I got to republish his list of insane quotesm
The bismark quote, embarrassingly, seems to describe his current activity.
Hey if it missed the mark entirely, tell me too.
Feel free to add suggestions or improvements. Constructive is fine.
