That's an hour of my life I won't get back. My former employer wants impose parking controls in my street. They advertised/ consulted on a proposal, apparently got it wrong so rather than starting again, they have switched to a different part of the legislation which in my
opinion would be unlawful for the purpose that they have stated (hopefully I'm right). I think the issue is, there was outcry at the first idea and rather than taking their time, staff have bowed to political pressure for speed while not understanding the law. Of course, had I
still been working there, then they could have asked me about the law ;)

Just for shits and giggles I've bunged in a Freedom of Information request to look at the governance behind the behaviour and a corporate complaint about the behaviour.
I'm not even bothered that much about the parking controls per se because I have one car and one off-street parking space, others in the street have many cars; what I am bothered about is the design would invite drivers to speed and the generally opaque way they're proceeding.
My local council and former employer have just tweeted out that their plan which was due to start on Monday has been delayed and they're considering other measures and will be contacting residents in due course.

My FOI has been registered, but no acknowledgement of my complaint.
No letters to residents to explain the delay, mind - lots of elderly residents who have been worried about it, but who are not on Twitter. I assume a letter will be with us Monday. LOL.
The moral of the story is that in order to save time, assume that I'm right (at least on this stuff). The saga continues.
I've had a letter (email) from the council!
So they are now going to put out a questionnaire to residents about parking (which what they usually do but didn't this time for some as yet unknown reason). In response to my specific complaint about trying to use the wrong piece of legislation;
"We are currently taking advice from business partners and considering other measures"

Yeah mate. I was spot on with my legal analysis wasn't I.

They've still not answered the full complaint, but I'll wait for the FOI to come back. The saga continues.
