In speaking with the DB press team, they made it clear that Gazprom was swapping these rubles to dollars (approx $515 million). Who were the vendors that needed to be paid in jurisdictions where the dollar is used?
Unlike other foreign banks, Gazprombank had a VERY minimal presence in the US, making these payments highly suspect. Only a very small amount of other countries use the US dollar as their currency.
