So dasvidaniya, Andrew Murray. I couldn't quite work out how you could go from being a leading member of the Communist Party of Britain in 2016 to immediately working as an adviser to the Labour Party Leader, but then I'm a bit old-fashioned about policing that boundary.

Here are some of Andrew Murray's best bits.
"Our party has already made its basic position of solidarity with People’s Korea clear.” (2003) - "our party" being the CPB, not Labour

"Next Tuesday is the 120th anniversary of the birth of Josef Stalin… A socialist system embracing a third of the world and the defeat of Nazi Germany on the one hand. On the other, all accompanied by harsh measures imposed by a one-party regime." (1999).

The “successes” of the USSR included its “nationalities policy” for promoting “the cultural, linguistic and educational development of each ethnic group, no matter how small or how historically marginalised“. (2008)

After the 2015 Paris terror attacks "The barbarism we condemn in Paris is minute compared to the barbarism wrought by imperialism across the planet in the last 13 years and we must condemn that… It is a sad lesson we have to re-learn from the attacks in Paris"

2015: "I’m a member of the Communist party. That’s where I am. Communism still represents, in my view, a society worth working towards – albeit not by the methods of the 20th century, which failed.”

I learned today from AWL that you are considered not just a Tankie but a "Super-Tankie". You must be very proud to be in a faction associated with the crushing of democracy and freedom in Prague and Budapest.

It's obscene that someone with these views held any kind of office, or even a membership card, in the Labour Party

I guess he has succeeded in two lifelong political goals - really damaging social democracy / democratic socialism in the UK, and abetting the taking of the UK out of the European Union. Both have caused huge damage to the lives of ordinary British working people.
