My colleague @suzijamil was super excited to bring him to NZ so that people could make-up-their-own-minds about his theories of ethics. I can see him being offensive. But then wrestle with the ideas.

No way is Suzi going to cave & given in to this.
Suzi: let us know how we can help?

Whether we disagree with Singer or not is irrelevant. He’s a serious mind wrestling with controversial ideas because humans have to do just that within an examined life.

No-platforming Singer is attacking examined living rather than his ideas.

If you want to meet the coolest devout Muslims, say something sweepingly stupid about all Hijabis. You will soon meet a skateboarding hijabi neurosurgeon who gigs as lead guitarist on weekends to raise money for the study of childhood diseases...or some equivalent amazing person.
This is not a defense of the Hijab which can raise many complex issues. It’s an observation about how many amazingly accomplished women wear hijab and the dangers of simple stories that we tell ourselves about the other that don’t survive brushes with the complexity of reality.
[This was motivated by a recent strident conversation about Hijabis.]

The motion is weak and the basis is LOLable, but my suspicion is that the judge will grant it (though likely for less than 3 weeks)

Defendants will argue the burden is on Plaintiff to show good cause (the motion doesn't do that), plus ongoing harassment

Positive for the Defendants. He gives their attorneys lots of usable material

A good rule of thumb as y'all see an assortment of "bUt ThEy LiEd UnDeR oAtH" tweets from conVics is that they're typically projecting – accusing others of the things they themselves or R.Broly have done

(Thread.) Watched Susie Green on @vicderbyshire. She seemed confused herself about what the complaint was about; started off saying it was "not just" about the misgendering, but later seemed to be claiming it wasn't about misgendering at all. (1)
Susie stated that the Equality Act makes it illegal to refer to someone *in the past tense* as male when they have since gone through MTF transition. I don't have time to go scouring the Act to verify but this is a new one on me. (2)
One of the "offending" tweets shown accused Susie of disregarding Samaritans guidelines on how to talk about suicide in the media. Later in the interview, Susie referred to a recent case of a young person who had killed herself... (3)
