4/. So who attended this sort of meeting?

Contrary to what Cummings & Priti Patel believe, many people– inc the chief economist of the BofE– have told me that jobs like theirs, which only require abstract calculation & “bandwidth”, will be lost to automation long before those of nurses, carers, mechanics or hairdressers.

Following Storm Ciara and Dennis a third such weather event is expected to hit the U.K. next week, albeit with less intense rainfall.

Still dangerous given how saturated the ground and how flood defences have already been breached
On a scale of one to five of this type of storm, Storm Dennis was a level five.

The amount of water moving across Britain last weekend was at least 50 times the flow of the Mississippi River, Prof Ralph estimated.

Disgusting and obscene but something we knew was going on.

One thing this good investigative piece doesn't mention is that Elleane Green and Pete Gregson were suspended but were still allowed to attend party meetings... alongside Jewish Labour members.

All things being equal the headline should read "UK left antisemites attended meetings with far-right antisemites" but all things are not equal.
Another thing @guardian missed in is that the signatures - from the last letter they published from Jews defending Chris Williamson (which they removed because loads of them were antisemites) was collected by... Elleane Green on behalf of @JVoiceLabour

I'm pretty sure a bunch of Nazis have jumped on the BDS train and pretend to give two shits about Palestinians while in reality, they'd support anyone who wants to harm Jews.
Honest activists need to do the work to reject these allies and state their intentions clearly.
I think we made a terrible error calling antisemitism on the left lefty antisemitism. The far left/far right alliance should have been an indication that we need to treat this the exact same way. The following examples paint a clearer picture.

3/ In 2009, #Corbyn warmly called Hezbollah "friends," described them as committed to "peace, social justice, and political justice," and called on people to support them. Hezbollah, a proscribed terror organization, inter alia had BOMBED AN ARGENTINA JEWISH CENTER, killing 85.

You can't read too much into any one by-election, but Newport (56% Leave) is interesting. The Brexit fiasco may have two broad effects on Leave voters in particular: 1) resigned collapse into disengagement 2) ferocious backlash. What happened here? Both, but 1>2.

Turnout was way down: 37% (2017: 64.5%). Normal for by-elections, but also suggests limited popular backlash, which would surely show up right now if ever. "A plague on all your houses" is the unsurprising response of many voters, who are used to being ignored.

Backlash nonetheless shows up in increased vote for UKIP (which is *now* a far-right party): 2,023/ 8.6% (2017: 1,180/ 3%). So ultra-Remainers have given second wind to what's now a far-right party - but it's a breeze, not a gale. Other pro-Brexit parties like SDP marginal.
