Some perspective for supporters of @realDonaldTrump:
👉 a stable and competent GOP candidate would have won the popular vote in 2016, perhaps even by a few percentage points;
👉 a stable and competent GOP president, having inherited such a strong economy and goosed it ...
... with massive deficit spending, would have approval ratings of at least 55%;
👉 and a competent and stable incumbent GOP president running against a barely (if at all) reconstructed communist, ought to win re-election by 10 points at least.
But @realDonaldTrump isn’t, doesn’t, and won’t.

Because he’s a psycho and a buffoon.

Non-hyperbolically: A big problem with having a pathological liar as president is that there will be times when it’s essential that people believe him, but they won’t.

But the ideas don't stop there. Here are more: (1) Yesterday, someone on my FB page suggested: Give every voter TWO votes. Most voters will cast two ballots for same candidate, but not everyone will. Complicates efforts to tally vote. Also inflates vote total from that state. /2
(2) New idea: What if e/ voter had 3 votes & cast those votes for individual electors,directly? Give voters 2 chances to vote for at-large electors,representing state. Then 1 vote for elector to represent cong district. Good luck, #NPVIC, getting nat'l pop vote tally from THAT /3

Evo Morales, the first indigenous president in a country that is majority indigenous, has overseen an economic transformation since his first term, and he's very popular to this day. cepr.net/publications/r…
He was initially barred from running for another term by term limits. He sought a referendum to abolish term limits, but it was narrowly defeated. Yet the Supreme Court ruled that term limits were unconstitutional, so he was permitted to run again.

1. In 2012, I wrote a book about terrorism/nat security in the 500 days after 9/11. It took 6 years of reporting in many countries.

The attacks, from left and right, came before people even had the chance to read the book....
2...the problem is, in the real world, no one is always 100% right - not the GOP or the Dems - and the book reflected that, based on reporting. Depending on what page people flipped to, i was called a 9/11 Truther, anti-American, a water carrier for the Bush Administration....
3...someone who wanted to destroy the NSA, pro-torture, anti-torture, etc. (Shortly after the book came out, other articles I wrote led to me being called an NSA water carrier, when before I wanted to destroy it.)....

Our country is not a democracy.
All the right wingers gloating about this and making "it's a republic!" type statements: Thanks for proving the point. You oppose rule by the people, and instead endorse a system where a minority of aging racists can impose its will on the majority by fiat.
I continue to believe that it's not great that the U.S. is being denied a democracy because a bunch of white men who owned slaves, barely bathed, and shit in pots under the bed still manage to control how our elections are conducted.
