The porn industry is not made up of a bunch of goons skulking around dark alleys. It is as corporate as any other corporation — ExxonMobile, Walmart, or AT&T.

Journalist Julie Bindel has penned a story on Big Porn for The Spectator‘s inaugural U.S. edition. In the piece, she describes the stunning size of the business: “Annual revenue from the global porn industry has been estimated at up to $90 billion. 2)

Dr. Gail Dines, president & CEO of Culture Reframed, who has studied the business of porn, characterizes its dominance: 3)

“Porn, like all major global industries, interfaces with banks, credit cards, mainstream media and multiple social media platforms. Every one of these industries has a vested economic interest in the continuation and growth of the porn industry." 4)

Dines asserts that pornographers target those without credit cards — kids — with vast quantities of free online content. The free porn acts as a ‘teaser’ to lure viewers to paid sites. Dines has also compared Big Porn to Big Tobacco. “ 5)
