It is possible to hold several ideas in one’s head at the same time:
(1) I think Bernie Sanders is a terrible nominee who would be a bad president, represents a lot of things I don’t believe, and has a substantial chance of getting crushed by Donald Trump.
(2) He is not a threat to the rule of law and is not a crazy person and he would represent a dramatic improvement over the status quo. I would support him over Trump—of course.
(3) I am not certain I know what constitutes electability, so while my gut tells me his nomination is a terrible idea, I don’t know that he can’t win.
(4) He is in all respects not my choice. I will argue against him as long as there is a chance of defeating him. But in the fight against authoritarianism it would a historic error—one centrists have made before—to decline to make common cause with socialists.

The NYT actually misses the critical point about its own reporting in this story: in reviewing the Flynn case, Barr isn’t simply conducting a review of the decisions of career prosecutors in DC. He’s conducting a review of the decisions made by Robert Mueller.
And let's be clear: Mueller did not charge Flynn (and his son) with a variety of crimes on which they were extremely vulnerable because Flynn agreed to a plea deal in which he plead to a charge--a deal he now wants out of.
If Mueller were still around, Flynn would face the logical consequences of seeking to void his plea deal. With Mueller no longer on the scene and Barr actively second-guessing his decisions, we will have to see what unfolds.

bruh you know that thing where "haha family farms had to have lot of kids! for the chores!"

That was mostly a tenant farmer thing. Landlords literally wouldn't lease to them unless they had a bunch of kids bc that was the only way to make rent.
Wealthier farmers could just hire (or in the South, buy) labor, & many of them did.
Lately I've been noticing our popular image of "family farms" is garbled.

Ex: Family farms are small & struggling, but they're also independent & prosperous. We hold these two images in our head at the same time without noticing the contradiction.

I've written about #Sanders over the years and like most leftists, thought his politics were an essential prod to others in Congress. But there are details of his political history here that #Bernie should be pushing instead of hiding: like that he was a Harvard fellow.

#Sanders is often presented as s spendthrift, but what propelled #Bernie from 3-term mayor of tiny Burlington into the House was his fiscal responsibility. He literally was deemed the Republican Trotskyite while mayor for reeling in spending and building the city's coffers.
