2/ Nigeria, Africa's most populous nation & world's most populous black nation of about 180m people, has just recorded its first INDEX case of the deadly #CoronaVirus- #COVID19. Before we say Jack Robbinson, trading of blame games 've started across mainstream & social media.

3/ Against this backdrop, Ex-Vice President & candidate of the @OfficialPDPNig at the 2019 Presidential election, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar @atiku, Friday, in a statement, urged Nigerians, not to engage in blame games, but seek effective solutions, like the #EbolaCrisis in 2014.

4/ Recall that on July 20, 2014, a Liberian national, #PatrickSawyer, brought #Ebola into Nig, through the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos. He fell down on landing, and was rushed to a hospital, where an EPIDEMIC was CONTAINED by Heroine, late Dr. #StellaAdedevoh.

5/ 3 days later, at the First Consultant Hospital, Lagos, #Sawyer was diagnosed of #Ebola. July 25, 2014, he died. As the first INDEX patient of #Ebola in Nig, THANKS goes to late Dr. Adadevoh who KEPT #Sawyer in hospital, despite his insistence to go, that he had only Malaria.

6/ HOW DID NIGERIA CONTAIN THE #EBOLAVIRUS IN 2014: LESSONS ON HOW TO STOP THE #COVIDー19
In 2014, Nigeria contained #Ebola, through bi-partisan efforts, recording just 19 confirmed cases with 7 deaths. First index case was July 20. By October 20, @WHO DECLARED Nig, EBOLA FREE.

7/ Amid accolades from @WhiteHouse & @WHO, @Eurosurveillanc cited 3 measures the @GEJonathan's admin, et al, used to contain #EbolaVirus.
- Fast & thorough tracing of all potential contacts
- Monitoring of all of the contacts
- Rapid isolation of potentially infectious contacts

8/ It further affirmed that #EbolaVirus was contained with
- Vigilant disinfecting
- Port-of-entry screening
- Rapid isolation
- Boot leather & in-person follow-up visits.

Over 18,500 visits were completed to find any new cases of Ebola of a total of 989 identified contacts.

9/ - July 23, 2014, @Fmohnigeria under Prof. #OnyebuchiChukwu, worked with Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC), to declare an EBOLA EMERGENCY
- An Incident Management Center (which morphed into Emergency Operations Center) was CREATED
- The IMC coordinated responses

10/ - The @GEJonathan's admin sought the SUPPORT & EXPERTISE of Int'l orgs- @WHO, United States Centers for Disease Control & Prevention @CDCgov, Médecins Sans Frontières @MSF, @UNICEF & other partners, for OUTBREAK INVESTIGATION, RISK ASSESSMENT, CONTACT TRACING & CLINICAL CARE.

- The early engagement of educational, traditional, religious & community leaders, also played a key role in Nigeria's successful containment of #Ebola in 2014.
